DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - Norton Cuban, a funny and wise bon vivant with an entrepreneurial spirit he passed onto sons Brian, Mark and Jeff, has died at age 92, the Cuban family told 105.3 The Fan on Wednesday evening.

"Norty'' and wife Shirley moved to Dallas shortly after Mark purchased the Mavericks in January 2000. In my many experiences with him, he was a warm and wise bon vivant who enjoyed Mavericks games and the social scene in Dallas while taking great pride in being the patriarch of a high-profile family.

"My dad says it over and over,'' billionaire Mark Cuban often says. "'Today's the youngest you're ever going to be. You've got to live like it. You've got to live young every day.' And that's what I try to do.''

The Cuban family grew up in the Pittsburgh suburb of Mount Lebanon, Pa, Norton as the co-owner, along with a relative, of a small automobile upholstery shop. Money was tight; Mark Cuban has since cited that fact as a possibly motivation for his famously youthful entrepreneurial efforts.

The three sons eventually all migrated to Dallas, Jeff and Brian becoming lawyers and Mark, of course, becoming a billionaire businessman.

Memorial service plans are pending.

Rest in peace, Norty.
