Jones Say Cowboys Destiny Will Be "In Our Hands" With Win Over Eagles

December 04, 2018 - 8:52 am

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - The race to win the NFC East is on and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones knows how important the next matchup against Philadelphia is.

Talking about the 'Monday Night Football' game between the Eagles and Redskins with The Fan's Shan & RJ, Jones says when he saw that Philly had won, he wanted Washington to win.

Looking to Sunday against the Eagles, Jones believes this could be a crucial win for the 2018 season.

"All we've got our mind on is the next game. I feel like our destiny is a lot more in our hands" said Jones.

When giving an update on player injuries, Jones says that LB Sean Lee will get his starting job back when he returns.

"Sean has had as much to do with how Vander Esch has evolved as his coaches have" said Jones, adding "he creates a wonderful situation for us when he's healthy."

Jones also said that the Cowboys will not rush Lee back.

"You have to plan on young players being better than they were at training camp" said Jones, and even though Vander Esch is 'improving,' but with a health Sean Lee, "there is nobody better." Says the on-field adjustments Lee makes are as important as play.

Jones also said he feels the Cowboys will have Tyron Smith (stinger) back and available against the Eagles on Sunday.

As for David Irving, there is no definite answer on his return. "There's no rushing him back due to his high ankle sprain" said Jones.
