Jerry Jones Says Cowboys Haven't Had A True #1 WR For Years

October 09, 2018 - 9:18 am

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was supportive but critical of his receiving core following another loss, but added that the team hasn't had a true top Wide Receiver on the team in years.

On his weekly radio show with The Fan's Shan & RJ, Jones said the team has been lacking big plays with the receiving core.

"We have a number of receivers, and each one brings something to the table for us" said Jones.

When asked about how his receivers stack up to other team's, Jones said that every team doesn’t have a number one WR, including the Cowboys.

"That hasn’t been our case here for several years now…not a true number one” said Jones. “My definition of a #1 receiver, it is Julio Jones, it is DeAndre (Hopkins). There are not a lot of those guys around the NFL."

Jones did however leave out his former star WR, Dez Bryant.

"Obviously we need to get better in the passing game" said Jones.
