Ezekiel Elliott Wants Contract Extension This Offseason

January 05, 2019 - 1:59 pm

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - Dallas Cowboys running back, Ezekiel Elliott, wants his contract extended this offseason, according to reports.

According to Spotrac, Elliott is currently the ninth highest paid running back and third highest paid rookie running back in the NFL, averaging $6.24 million on his rookie contract.

Elliott has had an unbelieveable amount of carries over the first three years of his career, making sense to cash it in earlier rather than to wait, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Since Elliott was drafted by the Cowboys in 2016, he has been a dynamic force on the team. This season, Elliott has averaged 4.7 yeards per carry, carrying the ball 304 times for 1,434 yards on the ground.

Elliott's current contract runs through 2020 and could become a free agent in 2021.

The Dallas Cowboys will go head-to-head with the Seattle Seahawks tonight at AT&T Stadium in the NFL Wild Card game, with Elliott returning to the field after sitting out Sunday's 36-35 win over the New York Giants.
