David Irving Quits Football In Instagram Rant

March 08, 2019 - 6:14 am

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - David Irving seems to be done with professional football following an Instagram rant late Thursday night.

"Basically guys, I quit," Irving said. "I'm out of there. It's a lot of reasons why I've come to this decision."

During the video, Irving, who appears to be smoking weed, criticized the NFL's policy on marijuana, arguing the drug is a safer alternative than pills for treating football-related injuries.

“How many NBA players you see getting in trouble about this?,” said Irving. “Not many. I appreciate my true fans who appreciated me for who I am, not for the whole football stuff because football does not define me."

"I'm not rich, i've been playing in this league for 5 years and still not seeing a million" said Irving.

Irving was suspended indefinitely from the NFL last week for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Irving has already been through several suspensions during the 2017 and 2018 seasons for drug policy violations.
