David Irving Not At Cowboys Training Camp "By Design"

July 25, 2018 - 12:26 pm

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle David Irving will not be in Oxnard, California for the start of training camp, and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says it's "by design."

According to reports, Irving has been seeking assistance in a "rehab" facility over the summer and that the Cowboys have offered him an 'excused absence.'

Jones didn't confirm those reports at the team's press conference Wednesday but did say that he doesn't expect Irving to appear at the Oxnard portion of training camp. It's still to be determined if Irving will return in time for the Frisco portion of camp.

Irving has faced a number of problems recently as he found out he will not face any discipline from the NFL after he was accused of domestic violence by the mother of his daughter

105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher reports that the two are currently in a custody dispute in California.

As for a case happening back home in Texas, sources say the Frisco Police decided to not pursue charges against Irving after his former girlfriend admitted the allegations she made weren't true.

It's a break for the pass rusher as he is already suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
