Jones: Cowboys Have "Best Chance To Advance" Playing Against Rams

January 08, 2019 - 8:55 am

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - With a close win over the Seattle Seahawks in the Wild Card round, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says that playing the Los Angeles Rams gives his team the best chance to advance in the next round of the NFL playoffs.

When asked if he was 'rooting' for the Cowboys to play next against the Rams or the Saints, Jones said he wanted to face the Rams.

“I’m pleased with how we’ve evolved. I believe (this) gives us the best chance to advance, and possibly play another home playoff game."

Going to a place that team owner Jerry Jones considers his second home, the Dallas Cowboys will be looking to advance in the next round of the playoffs when they face the Los Angeles this Saturday.

"We do feel very comfortable going to Los Angeles to play, however the Rams may not make it very comfortable" said Jones.

And this matchup against LA isn't the first time Jones has considered them this season. Jerry admitted that he's made several comparisons with the Cowboys.  “My first perception is the personnel, and they’ve got a young QB (Goff). My biggest comparison was at the running back position…we may run it a little more" said Jones.

But how does he think the Cowboys can beat the Rams? “When you get down in that red zone, you gotta go in and get TDs" said Jones. "When you look at the culmination of holding the ball a long time, you’ve got to get the score."

Jones also gave an update on injured WR Allen Hurns.

"The great news we got from our surgical team is that he's going to be back, he's going to be playing (in the future)" said Jones.

Jones also said that Cole Beasley and Xavier Sua-Filo’s availability for the game was positive.

“We’ll have to see, but I’m very positive about both" said Jones.

When asked about the reports that RB Ezekiel Elliott is due for a new deal, and if Jason Garrett's contract would be extended, Jones said "Look at the situation and how positive it is. if you were in my shoes, what would you do?"
