DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - It's official. Dez caught it.

The NFL approved the competition committee's proposal for the catch rule on Tuesday at the league's annual meetings in Florida.

Al Riveron, the NFL's Vice President of Officiating, tweeted out the proposal last week.

According to the committee's recommendations, in order for a catch to be complete, it must contain the following:

1. Control

2. 2 feet down or another body part

3. A football move:

  • A 3rd step
  • Reaching/extending for the line-to-gain
  • Or the ability to perform such an act

The committee came up with the language after getting input from coaches, players and former players, and club executives.
