DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - Following Dirk Nowitzki's incredible night at the American Airlines Center on Tuesday, it's time for the Metroplex to turn their attention to the hockey club.

The Stars begin their quest for their second Lord Stanley Cup when they open their first-round series tonight in Nashville against the Predators.

Dallas got some good news on their starting net-minder in the final week of the season when Ben Bishop was able to return to action after he had suffered another lower-body injury. The Stars have confirmed that Bishop will be between the pipes when the puck drops at 8:30p central time.

Had Bishop not been limited to 46 games (45 starts) this season, he most likely would have won the Vezina Trophy (best goaltender). He registered and NHL-beset .934 save percentage and had four shutouts in his final seven complete games. He finished second in the league with a 1.97 GAA. Only St. Louis' backup goalie Jordan Binnington was better with a 1.89 GAA in 32 games played (30 starts).

Should Dallas need to go in another direction in the goal, Anton Khudobin was stellar in relief of Bishop throughout the season. He posted a .923 save percentage and a 2.57 GAA in 41 games played (37 starts).
