DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - It was a disappointing end to what was supposed to be a very promising season for the Dallas Stars.

Dallas was in the heart of the playoff race for much of the campaign but floundered down the stretch, failing to get points in 8 of their final 14 games, two of which came when they were eliminated from the race.

The Stars conducted their exit interviews on Tuesday and their captain couldn't hide his frustration with how things ended.

"It was tough. We're very disappointed," Jamie Benn said. "For most of the season, we were sitting in a pretty good position. A month goes by, and you're out of the playoffs."

Benn also touched on the status of his linemate's contract with the club. Tyler Seguin, who is eligible to resign this offseason, will enter the final year of a six-year, $34,500,000 contract he signed with the Boston Bruins. When asked if he believed the front office and Seguin will get something done in the offseason, Benn seemed to be optimistic about it.

"Obviously, we have a great relationship. We've had just a couple small chats about it. He's in a situation where he can resign this summer and I think he'll get his situation figured out and it won't be a problem," Benn said. "Hopefully we can get Segs (Seguin) all signed up here and see what happens."
