Arrest Warrant For Former Cowboy Josh Brent Withdrawn

July 09, 2019 - 12:09 pm

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - An arrest warrant for former Cowboy Josh Brent has been withdrawn.

There had been a warrant for Brent's arrest for a probation violation following an arrest in Coppell last week on charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest after an incident in a Wendy's parking lot.

Brent was convicted of intoxication manslaughter in teammate Jerry Brown's death and sentenced to 180 days in jail and 10 years probation back in 2013.

Brent appeared in court yesterday and the warrant for his probation violation was withdrawn.

Furthermore, the judge hearing Brent's case asked the DA in Travis County to appoint a prosecutor to handle the probation revocation case Brent will face.

The reason the Dallas County DAs office recussed themselves from handling Brent's case is because first assistant Kevin Brooks was actually a part of Brent's defense team.

Brent retired from football in 2014. He currently is a scout for the Cowboys
