Allen, Aledo Still Atop Texas High School Football Polls

The undefeated Allen Eagles (2-0) are a near-unanimous choice at #1 in the latest Texas Associated Press high school football poll. After beating East Salt Lake City (Utah), 52-20, on Friday, Allen picked up 24 of the 25 first-place votes in the Class 6A poll released Monday.

Number two Lake Travis (1-0) picked up the other first-place vote in 6A.  Duncanville (1-0) moved up a notch to seventh in 6A, while Southlake Carroll (2-0) jumped two spots to No. 8.  

In Class 5A, Aledo (2-0) remains a solid #1.  The Bearcats took 22 of 25 first-place votes, with No. 2 Highland Park (2-0) taking the other three.  Denton Ryan (2-0) remained at No. 3 in 5A, while Frisco Lone Star (2-0) moved up two spots to No. 4.

In Class 4A, No. 2 Argyle (2-0) held onto its position from last week, while Midlothian Heritage (2-0) jumped into the 4A top ten at No. 7.  Heritage beat Kennedale on Friday, 35-7.  Melissa (2-0) is also a newcomer in the 4A poll.  The Cardinals are ranked ninth.

In Class 3A, Brock (2-0) stayed at No. 2 for another week.  The Eagles picked up three first-place votes in the latest poll.  Newton (2-0) remains a solid #1 in 3A.

Class 2A has a new #1 team this week, after previous top dog Refugio (1-1) lost to 3A Goliad, 35-0.  Mart (2-0) tops the poll.   

Six different teams received first-place votes in 2A, including Refugio.
